AdEspresso alternative: Ads Editor vs AdEspresso for agencies

By Matheus Mello, founder of Ads Editor and owner of YEP Agência · Published · 8 min read

An AdEspresso alternative usually goes on the list when an agency outgrows split testing and approvals and starts drowning in cross-account work. AdEspresso, owned by Hootsuite since 2017, is still strong at what it was built for, so this comparison says plainly where it wins.

Quick answer

AdEspresso is a Facebook and Instagram ads tool built around split testing, campaign approvals and client onboarding, from $49 a month with a $1,000 spend limit. Ads Editor is the alternative for agencies that need Meta and Google Ads together, cross-account copies, bulk audiences, balances and scaling. Pick by the task that eats your week.

Summary

  • AdEspresso is strongest at split testing, campaign approval flows, client onboarding and education.
  • Its Starter plan caps ad spend at $1,000 a month; Plus removes the cap for $99.
  • Ads Editor adds Google Ads, cross-account copies with Page and pixel swaps, bulk audiences, a balance monitor and an MCP.
  • Ads Editor has no approval flow for people outside the tool and no Salesforce sync.
  • Prices and features are what each official page showed on September 29, 2026.

How was this comparison made?

  • Sources: every claim about AdEspresso comes from its own website, pricing page or documentation, read on September 29, 2026. We did not test AdEspresso on a live account.
  • Ads Editor claims describe what the product does today, checked against the product itself on the same date.
  • Prices are shown in the currency each vendor uses, without conversion. When a page did not show a value, the table says price not verified.
  • Conflict of interest: Ads Editor is ours. That is why each tool, ours included, gets a section on what it does not do.

What are AdEspresso and Ads Editor?

AdEspresso is a self-service tool for Facebook and Instagram advertising. Hootsuite announced its acquisition on February 7, 2017, and the product still runs under its own name. Its pages organize it in five parts: create, manage, analyze, collaborate and learn, with split testing at the center of the create step.

Ads Editor is an independent platform for media buyers and agencies that run Meta Ads and Google Ads through the official APIs. It is not Google Ads Editor, and it is not a Meta or Google product. The side by side with the native tool is in Ads Editor vs Meta Ads Manager.

The two tools start from different questions. AdEspresso asks which variation wins and who has to approve the campaign. Ads Editor asks how to do the same launch, copy, check and report across dozens of client accounts without repeating it by hand.

Where is AdEspresso better?

  • Split testing. It builds every combination of images, texts and audiences for you. Ads Editor publishes what you upload in bulk, but it does not generate the test matrix. Our method for tests is in how to test creatives on Meta Ads.
  • Approvals. A client or manager can review and approve a campaign through a link, even without an AdEspresso account. Ads Editor has nothing like it.
  • Client onboarding. A white label flow asks the client for access to ad accounts and Pages. In Ads Editor, access still goes through Meta and Google.
  • Unlimited accounts. Every AdEspresso plan lists unlimited ad accounts. Ads Editor plans stop at 70, then Enterprise.
  • Education. AdEspresso University is a real asset for junior teams.
  • Enterprise extras. Salesforce sync, mandatory approvals and a dedicated Facebook consultant on the Enterprise plan.

Where is Ads Editor better?

  • Google Ads. AdEspresso's pricing page lists Facebook and Instagram campaigns. Its manage page mentions three advertising channels without naming them, so we could not verify Google Ads today. Ads Editor runs Google Ads, including Performance Max.
  • No ad spend cap. AdEspresso's Starter plan stops at $1,000 of monthly spend. Ads Editor plans are priced by number of accounts, not by spend.
  • Cross-account copies. Copy a campaign to another client account while swapping Page, Instagram, pixel and WhatsApp number. See how to copy a Meta Ads campaign to another ad account.
  • Audiences in bulk. Dozens of audiences in one action, across accounts. See how to bulk create custom audiences on Meta.
  • Balance monitor. Every Meta and Google account on one screen, with low balance alerts. See how to track your ad account balance.
  • AI. An AI Copilot inside the manager and an MCP for Claude or ChatGPT, from the Pro plan.

How does pricing compare?

Prices as of September 29, 2026
PlanPriceWhat is included
AdEspresso Starter$49/monthSpend limit of $1,000/month, unlimited ad accounts, Facebook and Instagram
AdEspresso Plus$99/monthUnlimited spend, bulk creation, cross-campaign triggers, approvals, onboarding, up to 15 seats, white label reports
AdEspresso EnterpriseFrom $259/monthUnlimited seats, API access, Salesforce sync, dedicated consultant
Ads Editor StarterUS$ 19/month10 Meta + Google ad accounts, 1 member, 3 active rules
Ads Editor ProUS$ 39/month20 accounts, 3 members, 10 rules, AI Copilot and MCP
Ads Editor BusinessUS$ 79/month40 accounts, 5 members, unlimited rules
Ads Editor ScaleUS$ 139/month70 accounts, unlimited members

Every AdEspresso plan showed a 14 day free trial; annual pricing was not shown. Ads Editor plans are billed in US dollars by card, with 20% off on yearly plans and a 7 day free trial; the full table is on the pricing page.

The math depends on what you run. An agency with 15 Meta accounts spending well over $1,000 a month each would need AdEspresso Plus at $99, against Ads Editor Pro at US$ 39. An agency with 100 small accounts and a need for approvals is better served by AdEspresso's unlimited accounts.

What does each tool not do?

AdEspresso

  • Google Ads is not listed on its current pricing page, and we could not verify it on its other pages.
  • Bulk creation, approvals and unlimited spend are not in the $49 Starter plan.
  • Cross-account campaign copies, bulk audiences and a balance monitor do not appear on its pages.
  • An MCP for AI assistants is not mentioned; API access is on Enterprise.

Ads Editor

  • Automatic split test matrices: you upload the variations, it does not combine them for you.
  • Approval links for clients or managers without an account, and a client onboarding flow.
  • TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn or any network other than Meta and Google.
  • Unlimited accounts below Enterprise, and Salesforce sync.
  • Sales by ad from Shopify or Stripe: the checkout integrations today cover platforms popular in Brazil only.

Which one should you pick?

  1. If your agency sells structured split tests and clients must approve every campaign, AdEspresso fits that workflow.
  2. If you run Meta and Google for many clients and your week goes to launching, copying, checking balances and reporting, trial Ads Editor.
  3. If you spend over $1,000 a month in most accounts, compare Plus at $99 with the Ads Editor plan that covers your account count.
  4. Run the trial in a real week: 14 days on AdEspresso, 7 on Ads Editor. The wider list is in best Facebook ads tools for media buyers.
